Port Washington's Dieringer dominates in quest for third state crown; others fall out in second round.

Port Washington senior Alex Dieringer did not disappoint on Thursday in the opening rounds of the WIAA Division 1 state wrestling tournament.

The two-time champion, now going for the 145-pound crown, needed just 1:26 to pin Montel Jackson of Milwaukee Riverside in the first round. The quarterfinal match against Bryson Womble of Menasha was even shorter, just 47 seconds. Dieringer (42-0) faces Ryan Gartner (40-3) of Wilmot in Friday's semifinals.

Senior Justin Meins posted a technical fall in the first round against Nate Keaton of West Allis Central, 17-2. In the quarterfinals, he came back from a 5-2 deficit against Justin Scherkenback of Muskego to force overtime, 5-all. Scherkenbach, however, earned the escape in overtime that gave him a 6-5 victory.
