Pirates Get No. 2 Seed, Bye in WIAA Basketball Regional

Pirates face winner of Cedarburg and West Bend East on March 4 at home.

Rallying from a 2-6 start to the season, the Port Washington Pirates drew a No. 2 seed in the WIAA Division 2 boys basketball regional, getting a bye and then a home game on March 4.

The Pirates (9-11, 6-7 North Shore Conference) meet the winner of third-seeded Cedarburg and sixth-seeded West Bend East. Port Washington already has beaten Cedarburg (5-14, 1-11 NSC) twice this year, 49-38 and then 67-38. West Bend East is 3-17 and has lost 12 consecutive games.

Shane Kennedy leads a balanced scoring attack for the Pirates with a 12.4 average, according to WisSports.net.

No. 1 in the regional is Plymouth, which is 12-9 overall. Other top seeds in this sectional are Beaver Dam and Seymour.
