Pine, PA, Supervisors Chairman Michael J. Dennehy Jr. made good on his Super Bowl bet by wearing a Green Bay Packers cap to the supervisors' meeting on Tuesday.

It all started in those halcyon days before the Super Bowl when Patch editors in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin started placing wagers on the Packers-Steelers matchup.

Local Editor Lyssa Beyer in Port teamed up with Local Editor Cindy Micco Cusic from Pine-Richland (PA) Patch, and the two even convinced local officials to join in the "fun."

Dennehy wagered that the Steelers would win and Saukville Village President Barb Dickmann placed her bet on the Packers.

The loser had to wear the other team's gear to his or her government meeting.

"The men of cheese defeated the men of steel," Dennehy said at the beginning of last night's meeting, as he wore a Green Bay Packers cap and spoke of the bittersweet experience.

The loss was a bitter pill to swallow, he said, but the sweet part of the experience was knowing that Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan who grew up in the Pittsburgh area.

With that, Dennehy posed for photos and encouraged his four fellow supervisors to join him in front of the camera.

Those Steeler fans respectfully declined, mumbling something about wounds just beginning to heal.

Micco presented Dennehy with the cap — an improvised creation because the one she ordered online did not arrive in time. (And she couldn't find any Packers merchandise in local stores.)

Micco had also bet on the Steelers in a friendly wager with Beyer. Micco had to film a video admitting defeat. To see it, click here.
