UPDATED: Highway 33 Will Not Reopen On Time

Port Washington city administrator Mark Grams hoped the Highway 33 closure would last only one day. But with the high temperatures, crews won't be able to reopen the road until Tuesday afternoon.

While Highway 33 was scheduled to reopen Tuesday at 6 a.m., drivers will have to wait just a little bit longer.

The highway was scheduled to be closed all day Monday for paving, but Port Washington Director of Public Works Robert Vanden Noven said that the highway will not reopen until Tuesday afternoon.

The highway is set to close July 16 for final construction of the roundabout at the intersection with LL, and traffic will have to take the detour starting at 7 a.m. that day, Vanden Noven said. Some night paving will also have to take place, but that date has not yet been determined.
