A quick guide from Patch on your choice of flavors for cool treats around town to beat the heat this week.

It's summer time, so of course it's hot. Some days, though, are more scorching than others — and it looks like the past week's heat waves are continuing.

While highs on Monday only lingered around 75 degrees in Port Washington, Tuesday is scheduled to be "mostly sunny and hot" with a high near 95, according to the National Weather Service.

  • : Monday's flavor is toffee pecan, and Tuesday's is caramel cashew.

  • The shop does not feature daily flavors, but has an extensive list of hand-dipped ice cream flavors available; some of the flavors are always on hand, and others rotate. Here's what the store had on Monday: Birthday Cake, Vanilla, Peach, Strawberry, Dark Chocolate, Mocha Mud Pie, Purple Cow (black raspberry with chocolate chunks), Cookies and Cream, Butter Pecan, Dark Cherry Chocolate, Blueberry Cheesecake, White Chocolate Raspberry, Orange Chocolate and Cappucino Crunch.
  • :The deli doesn't feature a flavor of the day, but its eight hand-dipped ice cream flavor choices include: Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk, Macinack Island Fudge, Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, After-dinner Mint, Just Peachy and Almond Praline; the deli also offers Vanilla and Chocolate soft serve frozen yogurt.
