Saukville Boy, 6, Rescued From Near Drowning

Saukville boy's sister and cousin helped save his life when he started drowning this summer in a Pewaukee pool.

A 6-year-old Saukville boy is alive and healthy after a near drowning experience at a Pewaukee pool – thanks to the actions of his 9-year-old sister and 14-year-old cousin on July 3.

Michael Phillips ran into trouble in the pool when his kickboard got away from him while swimming at a private pool in Pewaukee, the Ozaukee Press is reporting. His sister, Avery Phillips, pulled him from the water and his cousin, Haylie Hansen, started CPR.

“Avery said she saw someone floating face-down in the pool and called for the big kids to help,” their mother, Kelly Phillips, told the Ozaukee Press. “When they didn’t do anything, she swam over and somehow managed to pull him out of the water.”
