A Harris Bank employee had walked through the back door to leave work when a car pulled in to use the ATM and hit her, sending the pedestrian onto the vehicle's hood.
Fog, rain and a pickup truck were factors in a recent car accident involving a pedestrian in the Harris Bank parking lot. Police arrived at the bank, 623 W. Grand Ave., at 5:18 p.m. Jan. 29 and found the victim sitting at her desk back inside the bank, according to the police report. The woman, a bank employee, told officers she had left through the back door when a vehicle driving into the parking lot hit her; the woman slid across the hood of the car before landing on the ground. The driver, after realizing what had happened, got out of the vehicle to help the victim, the report said. In talking to officers, he seemed visibly shaken by the incident. A 13-year-old Port Washington boy hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in front of Tellos was found to blame for the incident, though no citation was issued. The driver, a 21-year-old Port Washington man, was westbound on Grand Avenue when the vehicle in front of him started to park, according to police reports. The man drove his vehicle around the parking car. At the same time, the 13-year-old boy was leaving the Tellos driveway to cross the street and ran into the vehicle, the report said. The driver immediately pulled over and called 911, then ran to check on the boy. Officers spoke to the boy, telling him to lay still until an ambulance arrived, police reports said. The one-vehicle rollover accident took place in Belgium, and the extent of the 53-year-old's injuries is unknown.
A Port Washington woman was transported via flight-for-life after swerving to miss a deer on the road in the town of Belgium. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to the one-vehicle crash at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday on County Highway KW, according to a press release from the department. Gretchen Pfeiffer, a 53-year-old Port woman, was traveling north on the highway when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Pfeiffer lost control of the vehicle, rolling over 1-½ times before coming to rest, the release said; she was not wearing a seatbelt and had been ejected from the vehicle. Oh, the dangers of being behind the wheel looking at a phone. Police received a call at 6:34 a.m. Nov. 21 in the 900 block of West Lincoln Avenue, when a resident noticed a vehicle that had been running for approximately 30 minutes, according to police reports. It was found that the vehicle owner was on her phone checking Facebook and texting around the corner from her residence, the report said. She told police that she did not want to park in her driveway, because she feared her dog would bark and wake up the neighbors. More from the reports:

Oh, to be a witness to this little incident. Police received a call at 11:54 a.m. Thursday from a resident who witnessed a car versus deer accident the day before. The caller said the deer ran out onto the road from the west on Franklin Street, hitting the car, according to the police reports. The caller said as the deer ran across the road, he noticed it was also being chased by a black dog with white spots. There were no reports of loose dogs or car versus deer accidents in the police reports. More from the reports:

This seems like an unusual choice of getaways when skipping school, but at least it had the potential to be just as productive as the classroom. A 15-year-old Port boy and a 17-year-old Fredonia girl were noticed walking along the east side of the auditorium at 10 a.m. Sept. 18 during school hours, according to Port Washington police reports. Turns out, the two had skipped school to visit the library, and were attempting to sneak back in. They were both issued a citation for truancy. Also, a pack of cigarettes was found in the girl's backpack, and she was issued a citation for underage tobacco. Sounds like an expensive library trip. More from the reports:

Fr. Vic Capriolo served at the St. Joseph Parish in Grafton from 1977-81.
A former priest at St. Joseph Parish in Grafton was killed Wednesday while riding a bicycle in Fond du Lac County. Fr. Vic Capriolo served St. Bernard from 1992-98, according to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. According to the Associated Press, Capriolo was crossing the Highway 151 bypass on the Prairie Trail when he was hit by a car driven by a 74-year-old woman. Capriolo, 67, died at the scene. In a statement, Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki said. “I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn about the tragic accident that took the life of Fr. Victor Capriolo last night in Fond du Lac. Fr. A 36-year-old Port Washington woman was cited in a crash that injured her children as well as a 73-year-old West Bend man. The crash occurred at 8:42 a.m. Aug. 15, according to an Ozaukee County Sheriff's blotter report. Three ambulances responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway H and Highway B, just north of the city, according to Port Police Capt. Mike Davel. A 21-year-old Port Washington man is recovering from "substantial" leg injuries after being thrown 45 feet from his motorcycle when a motorist failed to yield and the two collided. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash at 9:58 a.m. Friday at the intersection of County Highway C and Preserve Court in the town of Grafton, according to a press release. Heather Bejma (Marciel), a 27-year-old mother and Port Washington resident, was on her way to Little Friends Learning Center in Fredonia where she worked on Tuesday when she lost control of her vehicle on a slick rural road and crashed into a utility pole at just after 8:30 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and although authorities are not sure what caused her to lose control of the vehicle, they do believe she was not wearing a seatbelt. The accident happened near the intersection of County Hwy. H and Hawthorn Road. "She was an amazing teacher and a great mom," said Brooke San Felippo, the center's director.
