Two people involved in the accident told police that a friend had been driving the car — except he was nowhere to be seen.
A 31-year-old Saukville woman is facing charges after she was a passenger in a car that crashed into the back of Shopko Express in May and then told police someone else had been driving. Latoya E. Reddick, 538 N. Deerpass Rd., was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Wednesday with one count of obstructing an officer. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. A crash involving three semitrailers and a truck likely stemmed from a group of teens throwing cups full of water onto Interstate 43 from a bridge deck above the highway, according to a press release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department. A group of three to four male juveniles had been standing on the bridge, throwing water-filled cups onto passing motorists, the release said. They were driving a red or dark-red truck with darker windows in the back, and with smaller seats in the rear of the truck cab. They were likely between 15- and 18-years-old; the driver was a white male wearing a knit-type cap on his head. The Journal Sentinel is reporting that three people were injured Monday afternoon in accident on county Highway KK in the Town of Saukville. Alecia Treml, 25, of Port Washington was traveling north at about 12:09 p.m. when she veered left of the center line and swiped a southbound pickup truck, the newspaper reported. She had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver of the truck, Bernard H. Pethan, 73, of New Holstein, was ejected from the cab and sustained serious injuries. A passenger, Mose E. Gingerich, 30, of New Holstein, also was injured in the crash, the newspaper said. There was no word on the extent of the injuries.

An 18-foot sport fishing boat inbound from Lake Michigan collided with the harbor's outer breakwall Wednesday night, calling into action the Port Washington Police Department, Fire Department and an Ozaukee County rescue boat, according to a press release from the Port Washington Police Department. The crash took place at approximately 10:15 p.m. Three male occupants of the boat were transported to Aurora Hospital in Grafton; two for injuries related to the crash, and one for exposure, the press release said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time by the Port Washington Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
