Developer Has Big Plans for Former Bank Buildings

Developer Gertjan van den Broek of Renew Port Holdings LLC will present plans to the Port Washington Common Council on Tuesday night for renovations to the former M&I Building that include an additional 48-foot-tall building.

A special exception permit to be discussed at Tuesday night's Common Council meeting is the last approval needed by developer Gertjan van den Broek to continue with his renovation plans for the former the former M&I building, 122 N. Franklin St. The permit is needed because van den Broek is planning to add a building on the property that would reach 48 feet in height at its tallest point, according to an Ozaukee Press article. Harris Bank Will Close Saukville Branch

After completing a review on how to combine the M&I Bank branch network with the Harris Bank branch network, 24 branches have been chosen to close — including the location in Saukville.

After completing a review on how to combine the M&I Bank branch network with the Harris Bank branch network, BMO Harris said it will close 24 branches including eight Harris Bank branches in metro Milwaukee in early October, according to an article in the Business Journal. The BMO Harris location in Saukville, at 524 E. Green Bay Ave., will close by fall; this comes after an April announcement of other area branch closings, including one Port Washington location. BMO Financial, which owns Harris Bank, bought Milwaukee-based Marshall & Ilsley Corp. in July 2011. BMO executives have said all along that M&I and Harris did not have extensive geographic overlap of branches and BMO did not expect significant branch closings. One of the branches …
