Grothman's Bill Links Nonmarital Parenthood with Child Abuse

State Sen. Glenn Grothman has proposed a bill that would require the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board to consider single parenthood a contributing factor to child abuse.

State Sen. Glenn Grothman has proposed a bill that considers nonmarital parenthood a contributing factor to child abuse. Grothman presented the bill to the Senate Committee on Public Health, Human Services and Revenue public hearing last week, according to the Huffington Post. Senate Bill 507 states it is "an act to amend ...  statutes ... relating to: requiring the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board to emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect." William Didier's Funeral Service Set for Saturday

Family, friends to gather Saturday to remember pilot and Port native who died in plane crash earlier this week.

Services for Port native and pilot William Didier, who died when the medical transport plane he was flying went down in a Chicago suburb this week, are set to start at 11 a.m. Saturday. Didier, 58, was one of five total on the flight; two others died and two survived. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Church in Port Washington; the service will start at 1 p.m. Didier's obituary can be found on Eernisse Funeral Home's website. Trouble began just a few minutes before the scheduled landing of the plane; someone on the plane — it’s unclear if it was Didier or a co-pilot — told the controller they were “declaring an emergency,” were coasting and would not be able to reach its final destination: the Chicago Executive Airport. …
