A Bruising Good Time

A woman in Saukville spends her free time with the Rushin' Rollettes of the Brewcity Bruiser league.

When a father holds his baby girl for the first time there’s no way he’d imagine her one day spending her free time racing on a roller rink, smacking other girls into the rails. It’s 2011 and daddy had better alter his view of the world — and his baby. Lawyers, doctors, engineers and housewives are strapping on their skates and protective gear to participate in roller derby in the Brewcity Bruisers League. Cara Wisth, rink name Carabunga, grew up in Ozaukee County and went to Cedarburg High School. Today she skates with the Rushin’ Rollettes, one of eight teams in the Brewcity League.  Wisth lives in Saukville and is pursuing a marketing degree at Sheboygan's Lakeland College.
