Mom's Night Out: Local Business Offers Weeknight Escape

A Mom's Night Out event on Thursday night offers time away for moms of four-legged and two-legged creatures.

Moms come in all shapes and sizes, and Dawgs in Motion owner Sue Richardson said the business' event on Thursday celebrates that in a unique way. "We wanted to do something for Mother's Day ... something that you wouldn't expect a dog facility to hold for people, just something different," Richardson said of the Mom's Night Out event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Mom's Night Out takes a little different appeal, however, as having children isn't necessarily a requirement: the night gives time away for mom's of "two-legged or four-legged" creatures. The event will take place inside the business, 580 N Dekora Wood Blvd, Saukville, and will feature chocolate samples, wine samples, beauty care samples and more. "We're just doing it kind of …

Head cocked to the side, ears perked and eyes twinkling with an irresistible questioning look — it's a puppy face you can't deny, but also can't understand. Or can you? Professional Animal Communicator Stacy Krafczyk said it's through the eyes of an animal that she is able to get a glimpse of its world and understand what it might be thinking. Krafczyk also works as an intuitive advisor, medium and a reiki master teacher through her business All Spirit Healing. "I always had a connection with animals as a child, my family would rescue chipmunks or birds and we would rehabilitate them and release them," she said. "Most animals are so willing and open to talk because they don't really have any other way to communicate." Krafczyk cites an …

Saukville Groomer Moves into Port Location, Grows Business

Pretty Paws of Saukville's Dawgs in Motion plans to take over Vicki's Pet Parlor's Port location and expand to include a pet store.

When one door closes, another one opens — and that's kind of the case for a new dog groomer moving into Port Washington. Vicky's Pet Parlor is shutting down in Port Washington, and Amanda Wampner of Dawgs in Motion of Saukville will expand her grooming services to that location, 309 N. Franklin St., planning to pick up the customer base from Vicky's Pet Parlor.  Set to open on Thursday, Wampner has already hired a new groomer, Sue Thomas, for the Port Washington location of Pretty Paws. This will be the second Pretty Paws location, with the first located within Wampner's mom's dog training and daycare business, Dawgs in Motion. Wampner was the first of the pair to take interest in dogs, having spent time in high school working at a kennel…
