PD: Unknown Thief Steals Load of Laundry

A roundup of recent activity from the police blotter also includes a man trespassing to do a little fishing and a yard full of trash.

Somebody somewhere is enjoying a new wardrobe after a thief hit the Maytag Laundromat in Port Washington. A 20-year-old Maytag customer called Port Washington police at 4:13 p.m. Friday from the laundromat, 1036 S. Spring St., according to a police report. The woman said her laundry had been stolen. She told police there was a possible suspect that fled the scene, but she had no details about that suspect to assist in the investigation, the report said. Hope she found some new outfits herself. Free Fishing: Test the Wisconsin Waters Jan. 19-20

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is holding a free fishing weekend. No license? No problem!

Curious to try ice fishing but don’t have a fishing license? The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is holding a free fishing weekend from Jan. 19 and Jan. 20. People can fish any of Wisconsin’s inland waters and on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan without a license during the free fishing weekend. All other state rules apply, according to the DNR. Patch blogger Chad Leton shares local ice fishing conditions. Here’s an update from his most recent blog: Most lakes are providing anglers 4-6” of solid clear ice under a dusting of snow.  It is STILL recommended to stay off the bigger lakes and main lake areas of lakes like Okauchee, Nagawicka, and Oconomowoc.  If you want success while jigging…

This video shows user Angie Cope driving to downtown Port after a snow storm; it hasn't looked like this in a while! Even though it's winter doesn't mean the fishermen go dormant: check out this video by Peter Miller of winter trout fishing, and see what they catch! Charter Fishing in Port: Fish Doctors Offer High Doses of Adrenaline

The Fish Doctors charter fishing Capt. Geoff Grainger said though he's caught thousands of fish on this charter boat in the last five years, it never gets old. Find out more about his business.

It's said that becoming a parent changes a person, and for The Fish Doctor's charter fishing Capt. Geoff Grainger that fatherly element played a hand in his career path. Grainger, a Sturgeon Bay native who moved to the area about 12 years ago, said he had held the "typical corporate job," for many years, working for Harley-Davidson. Then, his young daughter got sick and "we almost lost her," he said. "I had a big priority reset. I had always been motivated to be my own business owner." Five years later, Grainger is still doing business on the water. He decided to open a charter fishing business because of what he explains as an almost genetic predisposition for a love of fishing. "How do you explain why your hair is brown and your eyes are…

First-time Fishing Licenses for $5

The DNR is offering a special deal for first-time buyers of fishing licenses this summer. It's a great opportunity to try fishing for the first time, or to get back into it if you haven't done it in a long time.

Let the fun begin!” New this year, anglers who have never purchased a fishing license -- or who haven't purchased a fishing license in 10 years -- …
