A 36-year-old Greenfield woman faces municipal citations in connection with the hit-and-run accident involving a student on Wednesday morning. A student was hit while walking across Grand Avenue around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. Witnesses were only able to obtain a brief description of the car: as a silver or white car or maybe SUV with some type of a blue and white round sticker on the back. On Thursday, a witness called Port police who was able to identify the company logo from the suspect vehicle, and "contact was made with the driver who cooperated with the investigation," a press release from the department said. A student was hit while walking across Grand Avenue Wednesday morning, and the Port Washington Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating the vehicle as the driver fled the scene. According to the Port Washington Police Department's Facebook page, the car struck the student between 7:15 and 7:20 a.m. in the crosswalk at Grand and Webster. "Other vehicles were stopped on Grand Avenue waiting for the student to cross when a vehicle passed on the right going westbound striking the student in the left leg and running over her foot," the page said. A 21-year-old Saukville man found guilty of a hit-and-run crash over the 2012 Fish Day weekend was sentenced on Wednesday, while his parents and the judge expressed confidence in his ability to rebound.

A Saukville man found guilty of a hit-and-run crash over the 2012 Fish Day weekend will spend 3 months in jail and be responsible for the nearly $30,000 in medical bills accumulated by the victim in the incident. Michael Frey, 21, recieved 3 months in jail and 3 years probation, during which time he is to stay sober, stay out of bars or liquor stores, be available for random drug testing, seek counseling for addiction and have no contact with the victim, Chris Morano. A Saukville man found guilty of a hit-and-run crash over the 2012 Fish Day weekend is back in custody after forgetting to check in with law enforcement regarding a presentencing investigation. Michael Frey, 21, appeared in court on Wednesday for a sentencing hearing that ultimately was delayed because the pre-sentencing investigation had not "been completed due to defendant not making contact with Department of Corrections," according to court records. The investigations are conducted so that the courts can have the "fullest understanding possible of the defendant's life and circumstances at sentencing," according to the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office website. A Port Washington man blamed as the driver in a hit-and-run incident inside city limits is decidely innocent because his car was dirty. A 31-year-old man called Port Washington police at 7:23 p.m. Saturday to report that while he was standing near his vehicle in the 400 block of North Franklin Street a vehicle driving by hit him in the elbow, according to police reports. The man said the car did not stop — and though he was not hurt he wanted an apology. The man, joined by a friend, then searched the area for a car that looked like the one involved in the hit-and-run. A Port Washington woman called police at 8:19 a.m. Oct. 22 to report nearly being struck by a car while crossing westbound on Holden at Walters with her son, according to police reports. Police found the driver and spoke with her. The woman felt the pedestrians should have stopped at the corner to check for cars, and that they did not, the report said. More from the reports:

A 21-year-old Port Washington man is facing charges after he allegedly took a woman's truck, crashed it into a van while driving drunk, then fled the scene on foot. John J. Scholten was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Oct. 2 with one count of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, one count of hit-and-run and two counts of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison and $31,000 in fines. The 20-year-old Saukville man charged with hit-and-run causing injury, and later charged with possession of narcotics and possession of a controlled substance for items found in his car after it was impounded, may face a jury trial in December. Michael Frey appeared in court on Monday with Attorney Michael Penkwitz for further proceedings in connection with the charges; he had entered a not guilty plea in September, and the case has now been set for trial to start at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 11. If convicted of all three charges, Frey faces four years, three months and 30 days in prison as well as $20,500 in fines. Kevin P. Brown will serve four years in prison with six years of supervision in connection with the hit-and-run accident that injured 81-year-old Dolores Kopacz in December. Kopacz died Saturday, but her death was not a direct cause of the accident.

Brown plead no contest in June to two felony counts: hit-and-run causing bodily injury and injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Paul Malloy sentenced him on Thursday to four years in prison with six years of supervision on each count — but the sentence is to be served concurrently, so he will not be in prison more than four years. The 82-year-old Port Washington woman who was injured in December by a hit-and-run driver has died, and sentencing for the man responsible was subsequently delayed while the District Attorney investigates whether her death was related to the crash. Dolores M. Kopacz was struck by Kevin P. Brown while he was driving drunk to work on Dec. 19. Kopacz died on Saturday. Brown was found guilty of "hit and run causing great bodily harm and intoxicated use of a motor vehicle ," in June, and was scheduled to appear in court for his sentencing on Tuesday.
