Interested in adopting a dog? Check out some dogs that are up for adoption at the Ozaukee Humane Society. Adoption Counselors work with you one-on-one to help you find the right match for your home. The adoption process can generally take an hour. The adoption fee for a dog can range from $119 to $449. Visit their website to learn more about the process and to look at other dogs.

The Wisconsin Humane Society is offering adoption discounts to veterans and members of the armed forces this Veteran’s Day weekend. “Operation Troops & Tails” allows servicemen and women, past and present, to adopt a companion animal for just $25 beginning on Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11. Following the weekend promotion, WHS will offer an ongoing military discount of 25 percent off all adoption fees. The Department of Natural Resources has sent notification to the successful people from the pool of more than 20,000 applicants for the first Wisconsin wolf hunt in modern history.
The state has sent notifications out to the 1,160 successful applicants for the state's first wolf hunting and trapping license. Materials were mailed late Thursday, and the Department of Natural Resources has rolled out a feature in the Online Licensing Center where the 20,272 applicants can search to see if they were successful in receiving a wolf license. People awarded the licenses must still purchase it. The hunt begins Oct. 15 and runs through the end of February. The wolf licenses were awarded to 1,145 WIsconsin applicants and 15 out-of-state applicants, according to a press release from the DNR. Hunters who did not receive a license this year will be awarded a preference point for future drawings. There were 159 applicants in …

A roundup of the latest incidents on the police blotter reveals a couple lost and found items, including a men's mountain bike and a dog, as well as a stolen flag and flag pole — how patriotic.
One Port resident was unable to fly her flag this Independence Day when the entire thing — including the pole — was stolen from her yard just in time for the holiday. A Port woman living on South Spring Street called police at 7:33 a.m. Wednesday to report her flag and 40-foot collapsible flag pole missing. The resident believes it was stolen overnight, but there are no known suspects. So much for flags and fireworks. More from the reports:

Fifteen Port Washington and Saukville residents will be honored this weekend during the Wisconsin Humane Society-Ozaukee Campus' Be Kind to Animals Awards Ceremony. "Every year the WHS Ozaukee Campus takes this opportunity to honor people in our community who have shown an exceptional dedication to animal welfare," a press release from the organization said. Wisconsin Humane Society-Ozaukee Campus is hosting a holiday event on Saturday, featuring pictures with Santa and visits from his elves.
The Ozaukee County Humane Society-Saukville Campus has plenty of pets that are looking for a home. Available pets are showcased on the society's website, and Patch will feature the critters every week. This week features 6-year-old Carly and 5-year-old Ronald, both waiting for a loving home to become a part of. The Humane Society is also hosting featuring a Pictures With Santa Paws event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Photos are free with adoptions, or cost $5 for any other visitors. Elves and special gifts are also involved.
