Randy R. Mayer — the bus driver charged with inappropriately touching students on his route — entered a not guilty plea in court Tuesday in connection with the charges. Mayer, 225 S. Madison Ave., also waived his right to a preliminary hearing during Tuesday's court appearance, according to court records. Mayer was charged in December with four felony counts involving three children, and faces up to 240 years in prison. Mayer had initially posted a $2,500 bond in connection with the first three charges, but now remains in custody after a $10,000 cash bond was set in connection with his fourth felony charge. After interviews with 37 Port Washington-Saukville School District students, a former school bus driver has been charged with sexual assault of two young boys. While the 57-year-old man, Randy R. Mayer, 225 S. More allegations surface after Port resident Randy Mayer was charged with three felony counts of sexual assault of a child.
Since the criminal charges involving a Port Washington school bus driver accused of inappropriately touching students were made public, police received information from another family that their son experienced a similar behavior from Randy Mayer. The Port Washington police are currently investigating and will be interviewing the additional student, according to a press release from the department. Court officials say Randy Mayer, a lifelong Port resident with no criminal record, is not a flight risk.

Considering him not to be a flight risk, Judge Paul Malloy set bail for the Port Washington school bus driver accused of inappropriately touching students at $2,500 during the intial court appearance Wednesday. In setting the amount, Malloy also noted that Randy R. Mayer, 57, has no criminal record and has been willing to cooperate throughout the entire investigation. Port Washington police wrapped up their investigation into allegations that a school bus driver inappropriately touched students.
Port Washington police have filed a report with the District Attorney's office in connection with allegations that a school bus driver inappropriately touched students on his route, Police Chief Richard Thomas said. After reviewing the report, the DA will meet with the investigating officers before deciding whether to file formal charges, Thomas said. Port Washington police hope to soon wrap up their investigation into allegations that a school bus driver inappropriately touched students on his route, but are asking anyone who believes their child may have been a victim to contact the department. Lt. Kevin Hingiss said the department has been continuing to interview parents and children as part of the investigation, but they are unable to release any new information at this time. Middle school principal said police are interviewing students about claims that a school bus driver inappropriately touched students and also caused a "safety issue."
In addition to looking into claims that a school bus driver inappropriately touched students on his route, Port Washington administrators and police are investigating a separate "safety issue" with the same the bus driver, Thomas Jefferson Middle School Principal Arlan Galarowicz said Wednesday.
