Port Man Gets 9 Years Prison in Drunken, Fatal Crash

Jaron S. Omon of Port Washington was sentenced on Monday in connection to the accident that took the life of 37-year-old Kelly Phillips, also of Port.

The driver of the car in a one-vehicle crash that killed a Port Washington woman in June was sentenced to 9 years in prison on Monday in relation to the incident. Jaron S. Omon, of Port Washington, plead guilty in September to the charges of homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle in the death of 37-year-old Kelly Phillips. Omon's preliminary blood test showed a .22 blood alcohol content.  In court on Monday, his defense attorney said his guilty plea showed he had taken responsibility for his decision to drive drunk, according to JSOnline.com.  Phillips' son also appeared in court, making a statement: "I lost my best friend, my role model; someone who was always there with a hug or a smile," according to JSOnline.com. OBITUARY: Kelly Phillips, 37, of Port Washington

Kelly Phillips of Port Washington was killed in a tragic accident on Sunday morning. Funeral Services for Kelly will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ms. Kelly Phillips, of Thomas Drive in Port Washington, passed away unexpectedly following a tragic car accident early Sunday morning, June 10, 2012. She was 37 years old. Kelly was born on January 14, 1975 in Port Washington, daughter of Michael and Marie Mauch Wegner. Kelly attended local schools and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1993. She attended Cardinal Stritch University and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse in 2007.
