William Didier's Funeral Service Set for Saturday

Family, friends to gather Saturday to remember pilot and Port native who died in plane crash earlier this week.

Services for Port native and pilot William Didier, who died when the medical transport plane he was flying went down in a Chicago suburb this week, are set to start at 11 a.m. Saturday. Didier, 58, was one of five total on the flight; two others died and two survived. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Church in Port Washington; the service will start at 1 p.m. Didier's obituary can be found on Eernisse Funeral Home's website. Trouble began just a few minutes before the scheduled landing of the plane; someone on the plane — it’s unclear if it was Didier or a co-pilot — told the controller they were “declaring an emergency,” were coasting and would not be able to reach its final destination: the Chicago Executive Airport. …
