Mrs. Spyder’s Sets Up New Shop

Located in the former “Dodge garage,” the shop offers consignments along with biker patches and wear, plus Jane's Handy Sewing.

Mrs. Spyder’s Biker Patch has moved to a new location but takes a little of the relocated Shoppes of Port Washington with her: a new friend and a desire to help others starting out in business. Kelly Schowalter, who owns Mrs. Spyder’s Biker Patch along with her husband Brian, said that the new location will allow their business to expand and offer space for consignments, hopefully helping others defray the “astronomical costs” of starting a business. “When we started at the Shoppes, it really helped us out being able to share the space and expenses. … We would like to provide that opportunity for others,” she said. Located in the former “Dodge garage” at 109 S. Park St., the shop will offer consignments along with Mrs. Spyder’s inventory …

Mrs. Spyder's Takes a Patch of Retail Space inside Shoppes of Port

Mrs. Spyder's Biker Patch opened on April 20, and it stocks items from T-shirts to incense to jackets and bandanas — and, of course, embroidered patches.

Mrs. Spyder's Biker Patch started as a much more simple business than the large retail space that it now fills in the Shoppes of Port Washington in the city's downtown. The all-encompassing biking business started out selling embroidered biker patches online; then, co-owner Brian Schowalter saw an opportunity in the abundance of stock available to buy from his then-employer Fine-Line Products — a wholesaler in Grafton. Fine-Line Products was going out of business, and holding a liquidation sale. So, Mrs. Spyder's Biker Patch stock grew — but with no location to store it other than Schowalter's home. Kelly Schowalter, Brian's wife and co-owner of the store, was downtown for Kiss of Indulgence this year, stopped by the Shoppes of Port …
