A West Bend man contacted Port Washington police to report a truck-deer collision, hoping to claim the deer — but We Energies employees put the kibosh on those plans after proving he had run the animal down on purpose.
A 29-year-old West Bend man killed a deer using his pickup truck while in Port Washington — and We Energies security camera footage proves it was all on purpose, police say. The West Bend man made contact with Port Washington police at 5:25 a.m. April 27 to report that he had struck a deer while on his way to go fishing, according to a police report. The man wanted to claim the deer. The officer made his way to the location, on South Beach Road just east of South Wisconsin Street, the report said. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about the house fire at 5:50 a.m. in the town of Saukville. The fire was at Advocates of Ozaukee, a shelter offering temporary housing, WISN reports.
No injuries were reported after a small fire broke out in the attic of a house in the town of Saukville. At about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of smoke in a residence in the town of Saukville, according to a press release from the organization. Several area fire departments responded to the scene. Officials found a small fire in the attic and were able to contain the blaze, the release said. The location is a shelter that offers temporary housing for displaced women and children, Patch's news partner WISN 12 reports. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office received a tip that someone saw something in the water on Friday, and a search produced the body of Robert E. Steinbrecker, 24, was last seen about 2 a.m. Dec. 27.
UPDATED 8:40 p.m. Friday: The body pulled from Cedar Creek in Cedaburg is that of missing town of Cedarburg resident Robert Steinbrecker. Lt. Rodney Galbraith with Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said the body was pulled from the water about 3 p.m., and that Steinbrecker's family had been at the scene for much of the day. Dive teams had been searching the creek since late morning after a resident called the Cedarburg Police Department to say they found a hat on the ice that matched the description of the hat Steinbrecker was wearing the night he disappeared. Ozaukee County law enforcement and rescue officials have been searching for 24-year-old Robert E. Steinbrecker since he went missing Dec. 27; no signs of the man have turned up.

Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the one-vehicle crash that killed Sara Pujanauski of the town of Saukville on Saturday morning.
A 19-year-old town of Saukville woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash in the town of Fredonia early Saturday morning. A memorial near the crash site has been started with flowers and some personal effects. Visitation and a funeral mass will be held Saturday at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel in Holy Cross, according to an obituary published in Tuesday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Police pronounced Sara Pujanauski dead at the scene of the one-vehicle crash on County Highway I and Belgium Kohler Road on Saturday morning, according to Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office dispatch. The driver of the car in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning that killed Kelly Phillips of Port Washington is being charged with homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle. Ozaukee County Sheriff Deputies responded to the one-vehicle fatal crash at 6 a.m. Sunday at County Highway C north of Ulao Road in the town of Grafton, according to a press release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jaron Omon of Port Washington. Omon was not injured during the crash. Omon was charged with one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and is currently in the Ozaukee County Jail. His bail was set at $25,000.
