Christmas on the Corner: Schedule and Highlights for Saturday Event

Local Memorial Day Events Celebrate Holiday the Right Way

Though many think of Memorial Day weekend as a chance to escape for a long-weekend vacation, don't forget about the people that the holiday is meant to honor; here's information about local parades and ceremonies.

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. For many, it means a three-day weekend getaway, camping, grilling and more. But don't be quick to forget the true meaning of this holiday while flipping burgers. "The 'Memorial' in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and liberty," the MemorialDayFoundation.org said. "Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember those Americans including our ancestors, family members, loved ones neighbors and friends who have paid the price for the blessings of liberty." Here in Port Washington and Saukville, plenty of events are taking place in honor of those veterans that the holiday represents. …
