How Will Mail Service Change in Port, Saukville with No Saturday Delivery?

U.S. Postal Service Saturday delivery will be eliminated by August 1. Check out the hours for your local post office.

Deeming Saturday delivery “no longer sustainable,” The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday it will eliminate Saturday delivery of mail by Aug. 1. Saturday is the lightest mail delivery day by volume and many businesses are closed on Saturdays, according to the U.S. Postal Service. Even though there will not be Saturday delivery, with the exception of Express Mail, local post offices that are currently open on Saturday would remain open. Mail accepted at Post Offices on Saturdays will be processed on Monday. A 2012 Rasmussen poll and a 2010 Gallup poll on mail delivery found that the majority of U.S. residents surveyed were ok with eliminating Saturday delivery. Stamp Prices Increase: What to Know for Your Next Trip to the Port, Saukville Post Office

Cost of stamps will go up a penny later this month, while the USPS is also rolling out a new stamp for international letters.

The cost of stamps is going up again later this month. Effective Jan. 27, stamps for first-class letters will go up a penny to 46 cents. Postcards also will see a one-cent increase, to 33 cents. In addition, the U.S. Postal Service is rolling out a new "Global Forever Stamp," which allows customers to mail letters internationally for one set price of $1.10. Meanwhile, new pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products include: The Port Washington Post Office is 104 E. Main St.; The Saukville Post Office is located at 600 W. Dekora St.

Post Office to 'Stamp Out Hunger' on Saturday

Stamp Out Hunger Day is Saturday, and local post offices will pick up your nonperishable items as part of the food drive right from your mailbox ... you just have to fill the bag.

The facts are a bit sobering: (sources: USDA Food Security Report 2010, Feeding America Annual Report 2011) However, the need doesn't go unheard, and the National Letter Carriers Association is again presenting "Stamp Out Hunger Day," on Saturday. Locally, post offices have already delivered bags to all residents; if you no longer have that bag, mail carriers will take items left in any bag. The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, having collected more than one billion pounds of food since its inception in 1993.
