VIDEO: Santa Donates 3K Tennis Balls to Wisconsin Humane Society

Santa made the delivery using a pickup truck on behalf of Elite Sports Club. Also meet several of the adoptable animals available at the shelter this week.

Santa swung by the Wisconsin Humane Society last week to make a special delivery: nearly 3,000 tennis balls for the adoptable dogs and puppies at the shelter. "He will be going from suite to suite, delivering the toys to the adoptable dogs and puppies at the Milwaukee Campus," according to a press release from the society. "The tennis balls were donated by Elite Sports Clubs in hopes of keeping the canines properly exercised and entertained as they wait for loving homes this holiday season." Some of the balls made their way up to Ozaukee County campus in Saukville, where plenty of puppies await a home. Currently available pets are showcased on the society's website. Dog Numbers Spike at Wisconsin Humane Society

Just in time for National Adopt a Shelter Dog month, the Wisconsin Humane Society has nearly 100 dogs and puppies available between its Milwaukee and Ozaukee campuses. Search through the available four-legged friends on Patch.

Editor's note: The following information is taken from a press release from the Wisconsin Humane Society. The Wisconsin Humane Society reports that there are nearly 100 dogs and puppies available for adoption at their Milwaukee and Ozaukee campuses, making this the largest number of dogs they've had at one time all year. With four additional transfers scheduled to arrive next week, the organization expects their number of available dogs to remain high in days to come. Some of these lucky pups owe their good fortune to the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’ program, which works hard to bring dogs from small, overcrowded shelters to larger shelters like the Wisconsin Humane Society who can place them in new homes. 'Twister' Survives Tornado, Now he Needs a Home

After surviving some of the most devastating tornadoes in Kentucky in March, this one-eyed, three-legged dog is now in Wisconsin and is looking for a new family.

A very special dog is looking for a second chance at the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus after barely surviving a devastating tornado. "Twister" was found wandering through a field in West Liberty, Kentucky after a tornado ripped through the town on March 3, according to a press release from the shelter. More from the release: West Liberty was one of the hardest-hit areas in Kentucky and Indiana that weekend, where tornadoes killed at least 34 people and injured more. The town of West Liberty was nearly demolished and had at least 5 reported deaths. Staff members at WHS were told by shelter officials in Kentucky that dogs were running loose throughout West Liberty, and many animals had to be surrendered to animal shelters because …

The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The shelter also offers a variety of events and classes for pets and their owners.
