Tenant Pops Up for Retail Space Under Renovation

Broadway Popcorn, a gourmet popcorn store with one location already in Sheboygan Falls, will open its doors in Port in late spring.

A gourmet popcorn shop is planned as the new tenant in the remodeled building of the former Brewmeister's Trading Post space. Broadway Popcorn, a gourmet popcorn company with one retail location already in Sheboygan Falls, hopes to open its doors to the public on May 1, according to an Ozaukee Press article. Though the shop specializes in mostly popped corn, it will also carry some unpopped popcorn, including products from nearby Fireworks Popcorn. "Broadway Popcorn Company specializes in fresh-popped popcorn in a wide variety of sport and beautifully designed tins and packaging," according to the company's website. Developer Has Big Plans for Former Bank Buildings

Developer Gertjan van den Broek of Renew Port Holdings LLC will present plans to the Port Washington Common Council on Tuesday night for renovations to the former M&I Building that include an additional 48-foot-tall building.

A special exception permit to be discussed at Tuesday night's Common Council meeting is the last approval needed by developer Gertjan van den Broek to continue with his renovation plans for the former the former M&I building, 122 N. Franklin St. The permit is needed because van den Broek is planning to add a building on the property that would reach 48 feet in height at its tallest point, according to an Ozaukee Press article. City code only allows buildings to be 35 feet in height, though other buildings already exceed that — including the Boerner Mercantile development across the street. In December, the city's Design Review Board approved plans that will add 18 condos and four retail storefront spaces as part of the renovations, …

Historical Society to Restore Lakefront Focus with Building Plans

Renovations to the former Business Men's Club building that the Port Washington Historical Society purchased in May after a $1 million donate include a shift to put more attention on the building's lake views.

The Port Washington Historical Society is turning the downtown around with its renovation plans for the the former Business Men's club building — almost literally.  The building, located at 118 N. Franklin St., will house the society's museum. Architect Mike Erhlich, also a Port Washington alderman, said the renovations will focus on the building's lake views, according to an Ozaukee Press article. Larger windows will be installed on the east side of the building as well as a 15-foot deck from the second floor. The building is connected to the former M&I Bank buildings — owned by Gertjan van den Broek of Renew Port Holdings LLC, and also soon to be renovated.
