The village of Saukville's Plan Commission denied the conditional use permit the company was seeking in order to build their store closer to a wetlands area than current ordinances allow.
Kwik Trip is facing a large roadblock in launching a gas station and convenience store on land the company recently acquired in Saukville after the village's Plan Commission denied a conditional use permit because of environmental concerns — but company officials say they plan to fight the decision made by the village. Four commission members voted against Bob Hamann's motion to "approve the (permit) because ... enough evidence has been presented here that any type of spill or encroachment on the wetland areas is not going to be significant." While commissioner Richard Belling agreed, commissioners Mike Krocka, Roy Willhelm, Don Brock and Village President Barb Dickmann were not convinced it wouldn't be a risk, offering the dissenting …

After a successful first run of the documentary in Wisconsin theatres, the documentary film that follows the story of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will show again Jan. 14 through 17.
The documentary film that follows the story of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will be shown for a second time at Marcus Theatres in Saukville and other select Marcus theaters throughout the state this month. Four theatres that will have showings from Jan. 14 through the 17 include: Several other locations have confirmed showings scheduled for just Jan. 16 and 17, including: Starring two Ozaukee County WWII veterans, Honor Flight follows a team of local volunteers as they race against the clock to send every WWII veteran on a completely free trip — an Honor Flight — to Washington, DC to visit the war memorials built to commemorate their service. The 17-year-old Port Washington High School student told police he smoked the marijuana before school, and then traded his younger friend some of his pot for cigarettes.
A Saukville teenager is accused of bringing marijuana and cigarettes to school after smoking drugs with a friend before going to class. Douglas M. Yanko, 17, was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday with one count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and $1,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Monday, administrators at Port Washington High School were tipped off that Yanko and two other students were smoking drugs. The three were rounded up and taken to the office and Port Washington police officers were called to the school. Yanko said he had marijuana and cigarettes with him, then gave the contraband to authorities. He said he went to a 14…
