Port Washington-Saukville Schools Closed Wednesday; Port, Saukville Announce Other Closings, Cancellations

Potentially historic and paralyzing weather is causing area officials to decide to shut down early or cancel all together.

Windy conditions have settled into the Port Washington and Saukville area as the National Weather Service's blizzard warning continues. Just over a foot of snow is expected in the Milwaukee area, with higher accumulations now expected from the big city south to Kenosha, according to the National Weather Service. The hazardous weather has moved area officials to shut down shop early or cancel events all together. The following is a list of early closings and cancellations: The National Weather Service is comparing this storm to a blizzard that hit the area in January 1999, dropping 14 to 18 inches of snow in southeast Wisconsin and causing four to eight foot drifts in a line from Fond du Lac to Janesville.
