UPDATED 12:25 p.m.: From the National Weather Service, Cedarburg had 9 inches of snow and Sheboygan had 14.5. UPDATED 12:23 p.m.: Were you supposed to pick someone up from the airport today? Many of the flights at Mitchell International are arriving and leaving on time, but there are some delays and cancellations. If you're planning to travel today (or need to get someone to or from the airport), check arriving flight status and departure status before you drive over. Potentially historic and paralyzing weather is causing area officials to decide to shut down early or cancel all together.
Windy conditions have settled into the Port Washington and Saukville area as the National Weather Service's blizzard warning continues. Just over a foot of snow is expected in the Milwaukee area, with higher accumulations now expected from the big city south to Kenosha, according to the National Weather Service. The hazardous weather has moved area officials to shut down shop early or cancel events all together. The following is a list of early closings and cancellations: The National Weather Service is comparing this storm to a blizzard that hit the area in January 1999, dropping 14 to 18 inches of snow in southeast Wisconsin and causing four to eight foot drifts in a line from Fond du Lac to Janesville. Racine County does to a really good job of plowing. I live on a "county road" (according to the post office) and by the time the sun came up this morning it was plowed and salted. The only time I can remember being "snowed in" after over 20 years of living in Caledonia was two years ago after the Groundhog Day blizzard.   more ›
