Brad Rosenbaum and Jenny Sproehlich of Menomonee Falls will enjoy dinner at a Port Washington restuarant after winning Patch's Cutest Couple Valentine's Day contest. The 15 Patch sites in southeastern Wisconsin invited couples to post their photos online and asked readers to vote on their favorites. We received more than 70 nominations of couple of all ages, and more than 100 votes. Brad and Jenny earned 25 votes to take home the prize: a $40 gift card for a romantic dinner donated by The Pasta Shoppe in Port Washington. As Brad explained, that restaurant has special meaning for the couple: Jenny and I first met at the Pasta Shoppe, which is way too big of a coincidence for this contest! So maybe you didn't get that large screen TV at Walmart because you weren't there early enough or valued your own personal safety to wait until later. It may not matter that you missed these deals if you can manage get to local stores to buy a lottery ticket by 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Powerball estimated jackpot now sits at $500 million, according to the Powerball website, the largest in its history. The previous top windfall was $365 million, and was claimed by eight co-workers in Lincoln, NE, in 2006. The Powerball numbers for Saturday were 22-32-37-44-50, and the Powerball was 34. The winning ticket was sold in Lapeer, Michigan. Whomever holds that lucky ticket just got a couple hundred million dollars richer.
One lucky winner in Michigan is waking up this morning with some serious financial stability. Going into Saturday's drawing, the Powerball lottery jackpot sat at $300 million, but when there wasn't a winning ticket that night, it rolled up to $320 million. By Wednesday night, just a couple of hours before the numbers were drawn, the jackpot shot to $337 million. The winning numbers were 6, 27, 46, 51, 56, and the Powerball was 21. Unfortunately, nobody from Mount Pleasant or Sturtevant won the big prize. In fact, we don't know who the winner is yet.
