About Mary

I am little, but I think big.  I love being a part of positive change.  I am a dirt-worshipping, tree-hugging neo-hippie.  I love to compost, garden, buy local, shop independent, sew and knit.  I have never lived outside of Ozaukee County.  I love Ozaukee County.  I homeschool my kids because I like hanging out with them...most of the time.  I love kids.  I am working on publishing books I've written for children.  I love children's literature.  I have been a nanny since 1993 (which also happens to be the year I graduated from high school in Cedarburg).  I love being a nanny.  I opened my own nanny agency in 2001.  I love being self-employed.  I am an historical re-enactor of the French & Indian War.  I love history. I started the Port Washington Community Voice in October of 2010.  I love Port Washington.  I am little, but I want to make big changes in my city.

Hi Mary.

A VERY IMPORTANT issue is receiving little notice in the press or by the public. A bill (AB 303) is being proposed before the state legislature seeking detrimental changes to Wisconsin's Land Use Plan. Such changes would make it easier for big corporations to seek change (i.e., zoning changes) within a community while larlgely bypassing public input. For more info, read www.ccrep.org and do a little research relating to the topic.

Please spread the word to oppose the bill. Thanks.

Mary:
Please contact me at metzbjade@yahoo.com. We need to have our City Council hear more voices like yours in an effort to not only save our hive, but also allow more beekeeping by passing a responsible, bee-friendly ordinance. We are going to need help from our neighbors, please!

Thanks, Melissa! I can't wait for the Main Street website to be functioning!

Mary, I just read the Kiss article and at the bottom you have directed interested parties to www.portbid.com. Though that is where the Main Street page "lives" you can also get there by going to www.portwashingtonmainstreet.com....which is longer but less confusing. Hopefully in a month or two the bid address will be long gone: )
