Port Woman Dies After Rescue Attempt at County Jail

The 42-year-old Port Washington woman attempted suicide earlier this month, officials say. This is now the second suicide death in the jail during June.

A 42-year-old Port Washington woman rescued from her cell at Ozaukee County Jail after an apparent suicide attempt has died as a result of those injuries.

Sonia Mojica died on Saturday after being removed from life support, according to a press release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Mojica had been on life support since she was found in her cell on June 16 after the apparent suicide attempt.

Mojica was being held for misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

This is the second suicide incident at the jail this month. About two weeks ago,  a 41-year-old inmate was found dead in her cell; officials believe she committed suicide.
