Halloween Decor Pops Up as Trick-or-Treating Hours Creep Closer

There's a chill in the air — but is it the changing weather, the scary decorations or both?

Ghosts, goblins, carved pumpkins and more are making the mainstream as the Halloween holiday approaches.

Patch caught a glimpse at some of the area's decorated houses in this gallery, but we invite you to add your photos of your house or creative costumes as well.

Plenty of events will be going on all weekend long to celebrate the holiday in Port Washington and Saukville. Trick-or-treating will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Port, and 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Saukville. Here's a number of other events in our own backyards:

  • Partake in a mystery: Check out , at Old West themed mystery play that starts at 5 p.m. Saturday and includes a dinner.
  • A paranormal evening: Two ghost walks will be taking place in Port Washington; the and marina and ends up in the cemeter; the and includes a tour of historic downtown haunts and a candlelight exploration of Port Washington’s spooky necropolis.
  • Party all night: The is hosting a at 7 p.m. Saturday for people 21 and older. The event features costume contests, music, Halloween treats, prizes, drinks, a silent auction and more.
  • A crafty Halloween: Several Port Washington streets will be host to a all day Saturday featuring artisans, pumpkin carving contest, Taste of Autumn Bake-off, downtown trick-or-treating at the businesses and extended farmer's market hours.
