Remember the Old Coal Dock?

A scan day at the W.J. Niederkorn Library earlier this summer captured historical views of the former We Energies coal dock.

While developments continue to change the landscape in Port Washington and surrounding areas, the W.J. Niederkorn Library is working to capture what once was.

The organization in June held a "Scan Day" to collect historical photos of the former We Energies coal dock β€” a space that will soon be open to the public as a lakefront park fittingly named Coal Dock Park.

Included are a few of the photos collected during the library's scan day; view the full collection on its website.

Library Director David Nimmer said they plan to hold another scan day, probably in September, this time focusing on historical photos of houses and buildings in Port. The photos collected that day will contribute to a website titled, "What Was There," β€” which showcases then and now photos. The date for the next scan day is not yet finalized.
