Bar Visit Lands Saukville Man Back in Jail

A 31-year-old Saukville man violated his bail when he showed up at the Railroad Station and had some drinks — but that's not all he had.

A Saukville man facing a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation from earlier this year is back in jail after being caught in a bar.

Justin Carris, 31, faces charges of felony bail jumping and possession of THC after an officer encountered him at Railroad Station. He faces fines of $11,000 and 6 years, 6 months in prison, as well as revocation of his license for up to 5 years.

According to the criminal complaint, the officer entered the bar at 11 p.m. April 6 and, in speaking to the defendant, noticed a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath. This is a violation of the bail conditions Carris had agreed to in February when appearing in court for the strangulation charges.

While being handcuffed, Carris attempted to hide evidence of another illegal activity — unsucessfully. The officer noticed Carris drop a baggie from his hand and kick it to the sewer great, the report said. The officer was able to retreive the baggie, and believed it to be marijuana. It did later test positive for the presence of THC.

Carris is set to appear in court at 3 p.m. May 7 for a status hearing.
