UPDATE: Body Pulled From Cedar Creek is Missing Ozaukee County Man

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office received a tip that someone saw something in the water on Friday, and a search produced the body of Robert E. Steinbrecker, 24, was last seen about 2 a.m. Dec. 27.

UPDATED 8:40 p.m. Friday: The body pulled from Cedar Creek in Cedaburg is that of missing town of Cedarburg resident Robert Steinbrecker.

Lt. Rodney Galbraith with Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said the body was pulled from the water about 3 p.m., and that Steinbrecker's family had been at the scene for much of the day.

Dive teams had been searching the creek since late morning after a resident called the Cedarburg Police Department to say they found a hat on the ice that matched the description of the hat Steinbrecker was wearing the night he disappeared.

Steinbrecker, 24, of Cedarburg, was last seen about 2 a.m. Dec. 27 running north near Cedar Creek away from two friends and toward his residence in the Town of Cedarburg, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.

Friends of Steinbrecker told police they made phone contact with him around 2:40 a.m. Dec. 27, but described the conversation as confused, according to Fox6Now.com.
