Drinking in Public: Man Uses Coffee Mug to Disguise Booze

Port Washington officers issued several citations for consuming alcohol in public in the latest police reports.

Fool me once, shame on you — fool me twice, shame on me.

Port Washington police were nearly fooled by the container this 54-year-old man was carrying, which they at first thought was a beer can, according to police reports. The Port Washington man was standing in the 100 block of West Grand Avenue when police first noticed him at 12:21 a.m. Saturday, and the possible open brew.

In speaking with him, they noted it was only a coffee mug, according to reports. However, he was still cited for possessing and consuming intoxicants in public as the coffee mug contained liquor.

Just a day earlier, a 21-year-old man was cited for having intoxicants in public when spotted holding a Bug Light bottle at 1:18 a.m. Friday near Grand Ave. Saloon, 550 W. Grand Ave., according to police reports.

At 12:50 a.m. Friday, another 21-year-old man — this guy from West Bend — was cited for having alcohol in public after being spotted in the 200 block of Washington Street, according to police reports. He along with his two friends, 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, also from West Bend, were cited for loitering a they were in the area for no apparent reason, according to police reports.
