Hear the Call that Saved Men Trapped on Breakwall

Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department released audio of the phone call from the Port resident concerned about a man under the lighthouse.

Two men in their twenties were rescued Monday morning after being trapped on the breakwall and underneathe the Port Washington lighthouse on Lake Michigan, Port Washington Fire Chief Mark Mitchell said. The men walked onto the breakwall at about 4:30 a.m. and were rescued at about 10:30 a.m.

The two men were taken away in an ambulance. Mitchell said the two suffered trauma to various parts of their bodies, such as scrapes, bruises and cuts, but no obvious fractures. They were also both hypothermic. , and .

Becca Mulenburg, a Port Washington resident who works from home, made the call to the dispatch center at about 8:30 a.m. that lead to the rescue effort.
