PD: Port Trees Broken in Half, No Suspects

A roundup of recent Port Washington police activity also includes a found airsoft gun and a suspicious texter.

Several trees were reported broken in the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue.

The Port Washington Police Department received a call about the trees at 6:16 p.m. April 1, and found that two trees were broken in half, according to a police report.

Several other trees had been tampered with, the report said. There are no suspects at this time.

Port Washington police had previously combatted a tree-breaking issue in the downtown area, specifically on Franklin Street.

  • That's not a good thing to misplace: A 36-year-old Random Lake man called police at 1:09 a.m. to report what appeared to be a gun on a park bench in Upper Lake Park, according a police report. Officers found the item, which turned out to be an airsoft gun. The item was stored in the department's inventory until an owner comes forward to claim in.
  • Dangerously texting? A call reeived about a subject slumped over their steering wheel in a vehicle parked in the north lot of Possibility Playground, according to a police report. Officers made contact and found the occupant had been texting. Nothing was wrong.
