Port Washington Police Report: Cats, Kids to Blame for 'Break-in'

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter.

Police visited a residence in the 1400 block of Parkway Drive at 8:39 a.m. Monday.

The residents of the home said the window screen was damaged and their cats were outside the home; they suspected a possible break-in.

It was later learned that neighbor kids had been playing with the cats and accidentally pushed the screen out.

  • One night stand? A man turned a purse into Port Washington police at 5:50 p.m. Monday. He had found the purse while cleaning out his truck after being at Country USA Music Festival in Oshkosh. Police planned to return the purse to its owner.
  • Fly away butterfly: A 69-year-old Port Washington woman reported a solar light stolen from her home in the 200 block of East Antione Drive at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday. The light was a clear, colored plastic butterly poised on a black plastic stake. There are no suspects in the theft.
  • Lights out: The Port Washington Park & Recreation Department reported vandalism in at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday. Two lights on the west concession stand were stolen, and several shingles had been torn off the building. It is unclear how recently the items went missing, and there are no suspects.
  • McVandalism: Police responded to a report of vandalism at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday at , 1700 N. Wisconsin St. The caller said there was spray paint on the parking lot surface as well as near the dumpster, a new development since the night before. There have been similar spray painting incidents in Port Washington, but no suspects have yet to be found.
