Port Police Report: Thief Steals Stereo, $800 From Locked Vehicle

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter.

He remembered to lock the doors, but cracked windows were ultimately the demise of this 26-year-old man’s belongings.

At 10:26 a.m. Friday, Police visited the Port Washington man where his vehicle had been parked overnight. The doors had been locked, but the windows were partially open.

It appears someone maneuvered the locks through those cracks, and ultimately took the in-dash stereo and CD player, $800 in cash and a CD case containing an unknown number of CDs.

This theft brings the total up to nine. The Port Washington Police Department is currently working to investigate the more than a dozen thefts from vehicles since late May.

Kids wanting to take a turn down the slide at the playground will fall victim to an unidentified prankster who visited the area sometime before 10:06 a.m. Friday. Janitorial staff at the school, 1243 W. Lincoln Ave, contacted the police department after noticing the slide was missing its middle section. There are no suspects at this time.
  • Hungry, why wait? When the munchies strike, it’s hard to think of anything else β€” which apparently happened last week at , 1100 S. Spring St. At 9:25 a.m. Friday, the store gave Port police surveillance video from the day before of suspects stealing a package of crackers and sunflower seeds.
