Port Woman Ejected from Car After Swerving to Miss Deer

The one-vehicle rollover accident took place in Belgium, and the extent of the 53-year-old's injuries is unknown.

A Port Washington woman was transported via flight-for-life after swerving to miss a deer on the road in the town of Belgium.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to the one-vehicle crash at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday on County Highway KW, according to a press release from the department.

Gretchen Pfeiffer, a 53-year-old Port woman, was traveling north on the highway when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

Pfeiffer lost control of the vehicle, rolling over 1-½ times before coming to rest, the release said; she was not wearing a seatbelt and had been ejected from the vehicle.

Authorities released no specific details about her injuries, but Ozaukee County Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Taylor did say they were nonlifethreatening.

The WI State Patrol troopers, Belgium Fire/Rescue personnel, Northern Ozaukee Rescue personnel and Port Washington Fire/Rescue personnel assisted at the scene, and County Hwy. KW was shut down for the duration of the crash investigation.
