Unidentified Men Impersonate Police Officers in Port

The Port Washington Police Department is seeking help in finding two people who pretended to be undercover police officers in Port Washington on Friday, asking a resident for some personal information.

The is seeking information about two people who pretended to be undercover police officers in Port Washington on Friday.

The incident happened in the 800 block of North Wisconsin Street, according to a press release from the department. The woman was approached by the two people behind her garage. They said they were undercover officers investigating garage thefts.

"They were wearing blue lanyards with embroidery with a name tag, had a clipboard, and a badge was quickly flashed," the press release said. "They said that they were investigating robberies from garages and were going to be speaking with her neighbors about this. They returned to speak with her within a minute asking for her name, if she lives by herself, when she leaves for work and how long she is away."Β 

The two men left on foot, and there is no information available about their vehicle.

The first suspect is described as a white male who is 40-50 years of age, thin build and approximately 6-feet tall, with short, graying hair and wearing an off-white Polo shirt and khaki shorts.Β The second suspect is described as a black male, in his late 30s to 40s, heavier build and shorter than 6 feet, wearing a blue jersey and jean shorts.
