Fourth of July: Information on Wednesday's Local Celebrations

With the Independence Day holiday breaking up the week next week, there will be plenty of celebrations going on in both Port Washington and Saukville.

The Fourth of July is coming up on Wednesday and both Port Washington and Saukville have a day of celebrations planned. 

Here's the details in case you're hoping to celebrate locally:

Port Washington

The parade starts at 11 a.m. and takes the following route: south Milwaukee Street to Grand Avenue, then east to Franklin Street, north to Jackson Street and then east to .

At the park, after the parade, there will be a ceremony to recognize the armed forces, a bike decorating contest, a watermelon seed spitting contest and a children's play area with a bounce house and live music.

Starting at 4 p.m., the band Vinyl Groove will take the stage at the band shell in Veteran's Memorial Park. At 7:30 p.m., Familiar Looking Strangers will take the stage.

Fireworks start at dusk.

Saukville

The Saukville parade starts at 1 p.m. starts at Rebel Road heading north and continuing on East Green Bay Avenue to Mill Street; it then continues on Mill Street to .

After the parade, there will be activities at Grady Park, and food and beverages as well as music will be available in the park until 5 p.m. Everything moves to Peninsula Park at 6 p.m. with more food and beverages as well as live music until fireworks at dusk.
