Port and Saukville Gubernatorial Votes Mimic Those From 2010

Though Tuesday's historic recall election drew a voter turnout percentage in the high-70s or above in the Port Washington area, voters seemed to remain loyal to the same candidates they were in 2010.

A historic recall election on Tuesday ending with the re-election of Gov. Scott Walker gave truth to the old saying that history repeats itself in Port Washington and Saukville.

Walker, a Republican from Wauwatosa, became the first governor in United States history  Local voters' allegiances in the recall were almost identical to the 2010 gubernatorial election between the same two men.

In the city of Port Washington, Walker won on Tuesday with 63 percent of the vote to Barrett's 37 percent; the city recorded the same percentages in 2010, the only difference being that Tuesday's election had a higher turnout — about 500 additional voters.

Both the towns of Saukville and Port Washington saw a small percent change in the way they voted from 2010 to 2012. In the town of Port, Walker moved up to a 72 percent win over 71 percent in 2010. In the town of Saukville, Walker moved down to a 77 percent win from 79 percent in 2010.
