POLL: Time to Tear Down that Holiday Cheer?

Port Washington, Saukville have specific days for Christmas tree curbside collection.

The new year is here, and the excuses for keeping that tree up in your house are growing fewer.

Port Washington residents needing to get rid of their tree can leave them curbside on four separate days in January, according to Judy Klumb, a city secretary. Christmas trees will be collected at the curb on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, as well as Jan. 23 and 24. All ornaments, lights, tree stands, tree bags, garland, hooks, etc. from the Christmas Trees. 

In Saukville, Christmas trees will be chipped curbside by the Public Works Department on Monday and also Jan. 16. Residents must be sure to remove all decorations, wires, tinsel, hardware, lights and stands from tree, according to the village's website, and no cloth, paper or plastic cover bags can be on the trees. Trees should be placed on the curb 24 hours prior to chipping day and not later than 7 a.m. that Monday morning.
