Candidates interested in running for local municipal and School Board spots can begin circulating the necessary paperwork to do so now through Jan. 2.

A total of eleven spots are opening up locally, three on the Port Washington-Saukville School Board, four with the Saukville Village Board and four spots with the Port Washington Common Council.

In Port Washington, aldermanic positions up for election include wards 1, 3, 5 and 7. Those spots are currently represented by Mike Ehrlich, Jim Vollmar, Joe Dean and Dan Becker.

In Saukville, the Village President spot — currently held by Barb Dickmann — will be up for election. The board will also look to fill three trustee positions currently held by Mike Krocka, Dave Maglio and Joe Caban.

On the School Board, two representative spots for the city of Port as well as one spot representing the towns of Grafton and Saukville will be up for election. Those spots are held currently by Jim Olson, Kelly O'Connell-Perket and board Presiden James Eden.

About local government positions

The Saukville village president makes $4,000 annually, while village trustees are paid a $1,000 stipend. Both positions also earn $2,280 stiped for meeting attendance; all members are allowed an excused absence from one regular meeting as well as a finance committee meeting before seeing deductions in pay of $85 per regular meeting missed, and $10 per finance meeting missed. Port Washington alderman make $3,750 annually. All positions are two-year terms.

School Board members serve three year terms, and are paid $1,200 annually for attending one regular monthly meeting as well as one monthly committee meeting. The members are paid extra for attending extra meetings, at a rate of $25 for meetings less than two hours, and $50 for meetings that go longer.
