Feeling Lucky? Enter Raffle to Benefit Youth Baseball, Softball

The Port Washington Youth Baseball and Softball group is sponsoring a Lucky Pirate Cash Raffle, guaranteeing at least $5,000 in prizes, as well as a discount card fundraiser.

Members of Port Washington Youth Baseball & Softball are hoping that two fundraising efforts will help turn the dream of updated fields and a dedicated baseball and softball complex in the community into a reality.

Pat Modjeski, tournament coordinator for the group, said a minimum of $5,000 in prizes are guaranteed for the Lucky Pirate Cash Raffle, with a $4,000 cash prize going to the grand prize winner.

"The more people buy (raffle tickets), obviously the higher the prize will be for the winners," Modjeski said, adding that once the group hits 2,000 tickets sold the prize money starts to go up.

"Proceeds will go to current field maintenance and upgrades and savings for development of a new complex here in the Port Washington-Saukville Area," Modjeski said.

The raffle runs through July 24. Seven winners will then be chosen during the group's pool party at Pirates' Hollow Community Waterpark, 201 N. Webster St., Port Washington, at 8 p.m. July 24, Modjeski said. Winners need not be present.

"If we sell out, the grand prize winner gets $40,000," Modjeski said, adding the group is hoping to sell all of the 20,000 tickets available. In this case, the second place prize would then be $3,000; $2,000 for third; fourth and fifth place would win $1,500; and $1,000 would be left for sixth and seventh place.

Tickets cost $5 each and are available for purchase from any of the board members of the group. Find a list of members to contact for purchasing tickets by visiting Port Youth Baseball & Softball's website, or by calling (262) 268-6543, Modjeski said. The group will also be present at area festivals before July 24 selling the tickets.

"If we are successful we are going to run (the raffle) year after year after year — and try to grow it," Modjeski said, "because we want to put a state-of-the-art facility right here in (Port and Saukville)."
