Lions Fest Fish Derby Offers $1,500 Cash Prize

The 3-day long event hosted by the Lions Club in the Port Washington Marina is just one of many ways to keep busy this weekend.

Lion's Fest Fish Derby kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Port Washington marina.

The 39th annual event offers a $1,500 grand prize for one lucky Fish Derby winner drawn from the biggest fish caught in the following categories: Coho; Chinook; Brown; Laker; and Rainbow.

The event is also open to the public, with live music as well as fish and chips, brats, burgers and beverages for sale.

The free Ozaukee County Fair — which kicked off on Wednesday — also runs through Sunday. Check out Friday's schedule.

It's a great weekend to hit up either of these events: though there is a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms on Friday night, the rest of the weekend calls for clear skis and sun, with highs in the low 70s, according to the National Weather Service.
