You've Got Mail — Or Trash?

Port Washington resident called police last week after he opened his mailbox to find something out of the ordinary.

A mailbox full of bills may have been better than the unusual surprise awaiting this Port Washington resident.

The man called police at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday to report garbage in his mailbox in the 1600 block of North Holden Street, according to police reports. The man was concerned because he wasn't sure what the items actually were.

Police responded and found that the trash was fast food containers, and that no hazardous materials were inside the mailbox, according to reports. There are no suspects, but police believe it was most likely kids.
